An extremely pleased teacher...

It all started when "tadpole" said to me
"Wouldn't it be nice to make something for my teacher for Halloween!"
What a sweet idea, I know he really likes his teacher this year

I planned on stitching a little Halloween item, buying a few Halloween chocolates and
wrapping everything in clear film (the type florists use) with orange tissue paper & ribbons!
That sounds good, doesn't it?

I went to the local shopping centre & visited Hotel Chocolat
WOW!!! It was Halloween Chocolate Heaven!!
It was so hard to decide what to purchase, there was so much choice, it was full of tempting pieces...
I finally made my mind up & bought these cuties:

A cute diddy chocolate pumpkin called a Yumpkin
(No need to say who popped in my mind straight away, I'm sure you've all guessed!)
 and

these white chocolate ones, Yikes!!!
I was really pleased with these and started my stitching...

I've decided to make a little ornament with
2 items from the Halloween Sneak Peek collection from The Trilogy

This is The Little Witch on the recto

And Haunted House on the verso

Both stitched on 28 ct Zweigart evenweave Brittney Light Taupe
Using all charted DMC colours and stitched 2 over 2
Finished off as an ornament with apricot & black beads

I was on a roll and decided to add an other little something
After much online tracking (thanks Jo)
I went for the cute little ghost from Valérie Danish of Val's Stitchin' Stuff

Stitched on 28 ct Zweigart evenweave Brittney Pearl Grey
Using all listed DMC colours and stitched 2 over 2
I initially planned on finishing it off as a little cushion
Somehow, something happened (it was a bad day!) & my cushion got smaller...
& eventually ended up into an other ornament!
I was so so frustrated, the stitching fabric kept fraying
as I was trying to finish off my slit/ladder stitch
What a disaster!!!
You know I'm a perfectionist and not being able to do a neat finish really freaked me out!!
I had to stitch it as good as I possibly could, so to hide the ugliness,
ended up placing a ribbon (thanks Christina) to turn it into an ornament
I am so not pleased with this one...

Then, to stress me out even more...
When came the time to carefully "wrap" the goodies,
I noticed my little choccie pumpkin had melted!!!!!
I'd left it in our dining room & somehow the autumn sun finished it off!
Panic, the deadline was near. I had to rush to the shop again to buy another one

Finally got everything together last night ready to be handed out this morning to the teacher
Apologies, couldn't really show you the whole "finished package" as by the time it was done
it was very late & dark so the picture is pretty awful (flash, didn't help!)

Feedback from Tadpole - He never seen a teacher so excited & "squeal" so much!!
She was delighted & opened it up as soon as she got it
Tadpole is officially a teacher's pet ☺

Glad this ordeal is over,
now off to stitch a little something for the Home Sweet Home exchange
Should be hassle free, shouldn't it?
Happy Stitching!
Mii x

  6. Oh no! Your ordeal had me chuckling I'm afraid - I thought things like that only happened to me! ;0) It all turned out ok in the end though. Your ornies are very cute - such a coincidence - I've just stitched (& finished) the Boo ornie too. It's definitely one of my favourites now. Glad I could help out with the ribbon! :0)

  30. What a nice thing to do for your son and his teacher - now it is just too bad that the first pumpkin melted.... I wondered who ate all that melted chocolate - that would have been me - course I probably would have bought quite a few things at that chocolate shop. And I love how you "fixed" your problem, I wouldn't have known that you had problems with it. Big hugs. Louise

I usually make a little something at Christmas & Easter but I guess now Halloween will have to be added to the list! I might as well enjoy it while it last because "Tadpole" is growing up and give it 2 years & he won't be asking this for his High School teachers!!! I was so so so sad the fabric on the little ghost played tricks on me. The design is soo cute! I will have to stitch it again for my own stash (I never stitch something twice, that's just to prove how much I love this one!). Have a lovely day x
