Let Love Bloom - Country Cottage Needleworks

Happy belated Valentine's Day!
Sorry I am a day late with my post
Things have been quite busy, windy & rainy around here
Let's just say this is my excuse :)

ooOoo

First is my latest finish
Let Love Bloom from CCN
Stitched on 28ct Brittney evenweave lilac, 2 over 2
Using preconised DMC colours except for the greens
Full stitches & French knots

Finished as a pinkeep
using batting, pink fabric, pink ribbon & coloured pins

ooOoo

Recently I was lucky to win the main prizes on several giveaways!

There was one from sweet June at Butterfly wings
This one is a little special, so will be subject to a later post

ooOoo

There was also Steph's giveaway over at Show & Tell
I was really surprised to find out I came first & won her mystery parcel

Here are the lovely items I've received, all nicely packed in a HUGE envelope

A sweet card, salty caramel candle & buttons assortment

Front

The cutest little felty creation
Perfect for my pins, needles & scissors
Complete with a piece of white sparkly aida fabric!

Back

Inside
The last item is really really impressive
When I first saw it folded I thought,
OMG, Steph has made a granny blanket!!! WOW!!
(Let's just say I wish I could make one myself, but would have to learn to crochet first...)
When I unfolded the MASSIVE creation it revealed the most pretty crochet blanket.... Star shaped!!!
It's huge :) Here is part of it on one of my sofas

Thank you so so much Steph!!
I love all you lovely gifts

ooOoo

Finally I have been admiring many of these frilly scarves over several blogs.
Tania kindly emailed me a tutorial (thank you sweetie) and I decided to give it a go!!!
Here are my first 3 finished
Now due a little trip to the post office, to send some over to my family

Happy Stitching!
Mii

    1. Too right!!! :D I don't know anything about crochet but the tuto was so simple I had to give it a go. The only disappointing thing is that they kind of stretch & loose a bit of the fluffiness.... well the first one I did.... On the latest one I worked on I decided to add more stitches (say 10 instead of 5) and it looks a lot better :D

    1. Alors?? I didn't think my pinkeep was this good! :D
I initially wanted to use a ribbon but it was way too wide.... I wished I'd used more batting too. It looks a bit too thin for me. I had to go to my LNS to buy this trim. I used the exact same one before on various finishes, in different colours :)
Steph has really been generous, I was pleasantly shocked with the star of course!!
I will make a special post for June's giveaway treats because I truly love the way she's done it: a little surprise every month!!! It's fantastic :D The first one was really really nice but I'll share about it later on...
      Big bisous xxxx

    1. Hi Mii.
In reply to your comment on my blog: when I went to Chester Hobbycraft, there was a crocheted bag there too! I looked at it and touched and thought: it would be nice to be able to knit it. There was no leaflet how to crochet though. Instead there were the instructions on how to crochet a water bottle cover. But I still got my Boodles spools.

Like you, I, for a very long time, hesitated about learning to crochet. I made three attempts at learning the basic steps (I'm still learning new things in crochet!) but I never lasted long - didnt practised long enough and forgot the stuff or else. The last attempt at learning crochet let me understand the differences between all crochet stitches: double crochet, half treble, treble, double treble and triple treble (using British terms, not American) and then it all became clear and started to make sense. Once you can see that, it goes. You start to be able to read the "mysterious" crochet instructions and you can make many beautiful projects that are out there. I'm a beginner at crochet myself but I feel like I'm drawn into the crochet world more and more. With a bit of theory reading, some practise and patience you will achieve that too. I'll cheer you up if you start learning how to crochet and will be looking forward to seeing your creations :) Good luck!

ps those chunky baskets are so easy to make - you only work in rounds, adding a layer or crochet one by one until it grows :)
