Valentine Bird - Heart In Hand

It was with great pleasure I agreed to take part in a Valentine themed exchange with
Shannon from A bit of this and that over in USA.

ooOoo

Here are the great goodies I've received

Shannon made the cutest, neatest, most perfect little pinkeep!
The design is so sweet and the item smells gorgeous too
Thank you sweetie, I am absolutely thrilled with my gifts :)

ooOoo

This is what I prepared for the swap
I chose Valentine Bird chart from Heart In Hand
Stitched it on 28 ct Zweigart Brittney evenweave, lilac colour
Used most of the listed DMC colours and some of my own choice,
Worked 2 over 2 and added a heart button

This little chart was really fun to work on, it also had 2 speciality stitches which were a first for me!

I decided to finish this bird as an ornament and had quite an ordeal with it!!
Note I made this before I actually took time to fix my sewing machine...

I used a pink Tilda fabric for the back and also had a go at ruched ribbon...
This was a first too for me and it was fun. Even though I used over 4 metres of ribbon!!
And finally a little charm to make everything look pretty!

Also enclosed in my envelope were a few bits & pieces
An other Heart in Hand chart, Rico Designs fabric, ric rac, beads, buttons, charms
Heart candle, heart milk chocolate & a little door sign (which I forgot to include on the picture!)

That's it for today dear friends
I'll be back soon with more little crosses...

Happy Stitching!
Mii

    1. Thank you! Ruched ribbon was a first. I admired this finish so many times on other stitchy blogs, I thought it was about time I gave it a go. I really don't know what I was worried about... maybe use over 4 metres of ribbon :D

  26. I must say that I miss swapping a lot! I used to swap fabrics through a flickr group a long time ago and I must say that it was sooo sooo good! The only problem was that post office in Brazil is a blast and it costs too much! I spent like a 1000 bucks during a year only exchanging things.

Your gifts are adorable, as well as the ones you sent! Congrats!

    Have a nice weekend!

    XOXO, Isa.

    1. Thank you! I really enjoyed this exchange & was delighted with Shannon's beautiful finish :) Happy to say it is now in display at home of course! Sewing machine is sorted finally. Don't know why it took me so long. Nothing drastic really, just the way I placed the thread around... But really happy as no longer having these horrible loops of threads each time I'm using it :D
