Catching the snow!

I've got a little finish!
How do you like it??

A dancing snowman trying to catch snowflakes

This is a chart from Aliolka Designs

Stitched on 14ct pewter grey aida fabric
using 3 DMC colours of my choice.

Finished off very simply as a small cushion
using Belleboo fabric from my stash

oOoOoOo

I'm still busy stitching away on more Christmassy designs.

The lovely folksy trio from The Prairie Schooler
in the latest issue of the Cross Stitch Collection magazine
really caught my eyes... I'm hooked :)
I have finished my first one and am currently working on a second one.

Thank you for kindly mentioning these on your blog Jacquie!

OoOoOoO

There is still time to enter my Lizzie Kate giveaway!
Stay tuned, I'll be announcing a lucky winner soon

Close to You - Maia (Update 2)

As I still don't seem to be able to make my mind on which project to work on,
I've decided to work on Mummy Mii's project.

* * *

Do you remember this??
- I thought I'd show you what it will look like once finished! -

Close To You from Maia
Kit stitched on 16ct tan colour aida fabric, using Anchor cotton

* * *

This is how it was on the 19 Jan 2014... (yes, I know, that long ago)

* * *

And this is how it looks now...

* * *

I've also been stitching away on a small seasonal free chart too.
It's nearly finished, so I'll share my model once it is all made up

* * *

My DMC threads have arrived this week too :)
The ones I've ordered from Cross Stitch Heaven at only 39p each!!!

I'm really impressed with these.
I only want to collect the main "solid" colours and I'm so close to have them all.
I probably have around 50 missing, which I'll order soon

Here they all are in my 2 big pink boxes :)

 The ones on the right in this box are actually doubles :P

Until my next post,
wishing you a lovely stitch-crazy Sunday,

Toodles,
Mii

Santa - Rhona Norrie

Today's post is a little nod to Rhona!
I have stitched one of her lovely designs :)

This is Santa, designed by Rhona Norrie and
available in the latest issue of TWOCS

* * *

This little cutie was stitched on 16ct Zweigart aida fabric, ice blue colour
Using the recommended DMC colours

Finished off as a tiny ornament
- cushion measures 5.5cm x 5.5cm -
using beautiful ice blue coloured beads offered by June
- Thank you sweetie -

It was a quick and fun stitch,
just what I needed to have my mojo back.

* * *

Now, off to put a few more crosses on Mummy Mii's project
Which I fear won't be finished for Christmas
I'll show you an update soon.

Thank you to all my readers who have kindly provided tips on where to purchase DMC at a cheaper price.
I have wisely spent a few ££ at Cross Stitch Heaven and I'm looking forward to receiving my latest skeins.
I will show you all this in my next post too.

Have a lovely weekend,

So not HaPpY...

Apologies in advance, it is not like me to complain on my little blog really
but I'm shocked & fed up

* * *

As some of you know, I am trying (very slowly) to build up my stock of DMC threads.
Basically, I go through the official list and buy the numbers I haven't got
so that I have the whole collection!

Stitcher will know exactly what I'm on about, so I'm not going to worry
if this is insane or mad :D

* * *

So yesterday I visited my LNS (Hobby Craft, for the UK reader).
It is not the best shop for cross stitching as they only sell kits but
for ribbon, buttons & threads, you can find the basics.

So, I had my list and bought 16 skeins of DMC I didn't have.
I was quite happy & in a sad way,
quite looking forward to some "bobbinating"
(yep, it comes with the territory when you are a stitcher!)
until I arrived at home & checked the receipt...

What??
£0.90 per skein??
It used to be £0.80 a few weeks ago!!

I always found it expensive, but really? Nearly £1!!

How come in USA you can have the same product for $ 0.40???
I mean the stuff is made in France and UK is just next door...

Am I the only one to think 90p is dear for a skein of floss?

* * *

Well, let's just say my LNS won't be seeing me in a hurry and
I might place a bulk order from the USA instead!
What a rip off :(

Okay, rant over.... apologies to everyone
I feel better already for sharing my frustration with you all :D
Aren't you lucky?

* * *

An other little issue I'm having at the moment too,
I can't seem to settle on a project.

I have 2 Halloween smalls that are now gathering dust somewhere,
2 Christmas smalls that I don't feel tempted to finish for now,
my mum's big project that I really wanted to finish for Christmas... which could be for next year now!

What is wrong with me??
I want to stitch but don't know what to stitch
and seem to be losing interest half way through a project.

Any advice?? for Mii?

Here Comes Santa Claus! - Lizzie Kate

 These past few days I have been stitching away on a Christmassy design.
Just to start getting in the mood...

It is an "oldish" design from Lizzie Kate called
Here Comes Santa Claus!

* * *
Cross stitched on 14 ct dark rustico aida fabric,
using charted DMC threads.

 For once I dared swapped a colour!
White Wisper from Rainbow Gallery went out and
plain DMC blanc was in!!

Fur/hair effect or not,
I think it's silly to pay over £3 for a skein of floss!!!

I have used the provided white & green buttons for Santa's coat.
 * * *
My model was finished off as a small pincushion
using the same fabric for the back
and the addition of red & sunrise coloured pearls for the edge.

Don't forget about my Lizzie Kate Giveaway With A Twist,
there is still time to enter if you're not afraid of commitment!
