CJC 2016 #12

Good morning!

Another day in the challenge.
CJC 2016 #12 is

Wonderland
From The Trilogy

This is how the design will look when finished

And this is my small start...

This is a kit, and was gifted to me by Shirlee many moons ago.

The design is stitched on 30 count Grey Clay Northern Cross linen
2 over 2 using Weeks Dye Works threads.
Also provided are the little snowflakes embellishments

The design include cross stitch, Rhodes, Smyrna & Long Stitch

Stitching time so far: 2hrs

Although this is worked on linen (which I am not a fan of),
this is actually really nice and pleasant to stitch on.
It is also fun thanks to the variety of stitches used.
These I can cope with, they are not difficult and do look lovely when finished.
I am looking forward to go back on this cardinal design :)

3 more starts to go...

Toodles,
Mii

  1. Another lovely start on a chart so apt for our chilly weather at the moment. Have fun with the non-cross stitches! :)

I think this should finish up quite quickly.

I tried to stick to smaller pieces and be realistic with the amount I will be finishing. Which I hope will be all of them :)

Never had the chance to see a cardinal in real life, but hope the designers stayed true to the colours of the bird. I think it could do with being brighter.

    1. It is a rather nice selection.
Have to make sure I stitch one full cross at a time to keep up with the lovely over dyed effect :)

  8. I know your plan is a new start for,the first 15 days of January - then what will you do? Stitch on each one in rotation or just work on one until it is finished? All of your choices are so cute and I know they will all be wonderful when you're done - everything you do is gorgeous!!

It's fun to watch this challenge unfold. Thanks for sharing these with us!

    1. Thank you Barb!
I can't work on rotation, this challenge alone was a real struggle for me.
I love to start and finish something without interruptions :)
So when day 15 will be done, I plan on finishing every single one of these, one at a time. The problem will be, which one to choose from?! Obviously the smaller ones will go first but it will be nice to come back to my stitching normality on working on one project at a time. I am glad I took part in the challenge, but I won't do it again. I find it too much with the daily new starts and daily blog posts.

    1. Thanks Andrea :)
I prepared everything well in advance - even though, there were some last minute changes! - in zippy bags. So all I have to do after the 15th, is choose which one to finish :)

  15. You're doing great with all your daily starts. It's a good idea to choose smaller charts and you seem to stitch quite a lot each day.

    1. I have started to actually time how long I stitch because I personally thought I would do more on a 2/3 hours session! :) How wrong was I?

    1. Oh don't get me wrong, I like this sweet design.
It's the fabric I wasn't keen on. I don't usually stitch on linen because it's not a regular straight fabric.
I gave it a go and I'm happy, so I will finish it on the provided linen. Watch this space :)
