CJC 2016 #7

Good morning Peeps!

This is CJC 2016 #7
and I am back with my favourites: LK small projects :)

Live Simply

This is what it will look like when finished

And this is what my pitiful start looks like!

Stitched on Sew It All 16 count aida fabric
Confetti colour
2 over 1 using DMC threads
Stitching time so far: 2h15mns

Not sure if I like it yet.
I've tried to be bold with my choice of fabric but
I don't think it's working for this design.

It is most likely that I will start it again on a less daring fabric.
What do you think, any advice??

Only 8 more days to go!

Toodles,
Mii

  1. Personally I think it looks great! I don't think it's too bold at all :) It's only a small design so might as well finish it and see what it looks like once it's all stitched ;)

    1. Thank you for your advice.
Yes, I agree with you. Might as well finish it up first and then decide :)

  2. C'est vrai que le modèle est sur une toile foncée mais ton choix peut apporter encore plus d'originalité à cet ouvrage.

  3. You've made a good start, despite your concerns about the fabric. The trouble is, the chart's been stitched on a dark fabric and you've chosen a pale one. I think once you've stitched more, the colours will show up really nicely. Perhaps don't stitch the block of white(?) around the 'S' though? :)

    1. Yes, you're right!
I'll keep going (obviously not now) and see. Might change the colour of the block around the S to something different.

  6. Your version looks lovely, although I do like the darker fabric in the charted design as well ... you could always stitch this one as an RAK if you don't like it and re-stitch again for yourself another time.

    1. Lol, I like your suggestion!
However, I would dare gifting something I personally would not like to receive myself :)
I will put it aside for now, due to the CJC and think about what to do with it.

    1. Thanks for being honest :) I like the fabric, I like the design but I don't think they are both made for each other :D For once, I am grateful for the CJC to let me put this one aside for now! I will make my mind up, eventually!

  8. What a great design. I think you have to stitch a bit more to see how the fabric look/feels with the design. It's probably because it's so different from the picture and you're comparing the dark background with the paler effect of your fabric.

Not sure what to do but it is most likely that I will restart it on a different fabric.

  11. I like the fabric you chose very much. I think it is hard to decide since you only have a little bit done so far. I am impressed with how much you get done.

  12. This is such a pretty design - Maggee stitched it for me last year and I love to see it out on display. I've never seen the brown fabric for the chart. I like your version better but maybe the fabric is too pastel for the bright orange/pink? Putting it aside will I'm sure help to make up your mind!

  14. Lovely start. i think it's just because it's on something different that you're not sure. I rarely stitch LK's on the recommended fabric and I'm usually happy

  15. When I saw your fabric choice I thought: Wow, how great for this design, much better than the dark one on the picture. But that's just my personal opinion. If you are not happy with it you should change it.

  16. I think I would go for a plain darker fabric to get the right result.
    Great design.

  25. I like your choice of fabric. I think having the simple, bold colours on the confetti fabric will continue to look better and better. But you have to be happy with it too. :)
