Pearl Swirl Mermaid | HAED

Hello Peeps!

I am so sorry it has been so long since my last post...
But, I am still enjoying my HAED adventure!

In my last post, I was happily stitching away on Voodoo
and had already planned my new start and rotation.

Well, going back to the last weekend of September,
I went away to our annual cross stitch retreat
(or weekend away, whatever you like to call it)
with my stitching buddy Justine, at our usual cottage The Dairy.

We had a lovely relaxing time doing nothing but stitch
(in between eating & drinking, that is!)
and I was eager to start on my new planned project

Pearl Swirl Mermaid
By Jasmine Becket-Griffith

This is what it will eventually look like when finished, one day

350 x 470 stitches
90 colours
Stitched on 25 count magic evenweave
1 over 1 using the DMC recommended threads
Swapped Kreinic for DMC light effect

I soon realised my 2 weeks rotation was not going to work for me.
So, I'd decided to keep going on one project until I had a page finish.

And this is where I was last weekend, after my first page finish

The details are amazing and insane.

A few crosses in DMC light effect were used for the bubbles on the left,
but sadly we can't see anything on my photos.

Since our meet up,
we have gifted each other with a new HAED chart
(like we didn't have enough to keep us going! Those wish lists are banned from now on).

I was planning on starting my third (and last for now - promise!) new HAED project
during the Christmas break... but as I had finished a page on my mermaid,
I couldn't wait and decided to start on my new project earlier.

Farewell to Anger (Mini)
By Leonid Afremov

341 x 225 stitches
90 colours

Started last weekend.
Worked on 16 count Aida fabric
2 over 1, using the recommended DMC threads.

I will post an update once my first page is finished...

  1. Love all three designs,as long as you keep enjoying them we can look forward to updates:)

  2. WOOOOOOWWW che lavori immensi, sei davvero brava!

  3. Congratulations on your first HAED page finish! Glad to see you have started Farewell to Anger as it's another beauty and hopefully will grow quickly being a Mini.

  4. Wow, so many great projects.
    Happy Stitching, Manuela

  5. Congrats on the page finish and lovely starts Ingrid.

  6. These are interesting projects! Other than mine :-)
    I send greetings!

  7. And this is why I don't stitch HAEDs! They do look stunning though so I am glad that so many people do show their artwork. Love the turquoises in the mermaid.

  8. Love it! (Of course, I have a slight obessession with mermaids.). It is looking so terrific and congrats on a page finish.

  9. Congrats on the page finish! That's a lot of stitching and the design is lovely. The mini chart looks great as well- riot of colors! Even mini HAEDs are large projects for me.

  10. Wow, Mi, two big projekts, you have my respect.
    And they look great.
    Hugs Martina

  11. Oh my, another HAED you were stitching on during the past weeks. This is so cool and you made enormous progress on it. Now I can't wait to see your start on the third HAED. These patterns are addictive, aren't they?

  12. lol I warned you! I love your choices and looking forward to seeing how your Afremov stitches up as a mini. I love his artwork too. Beautiful progress on mermaid.
    xo Alicia

  13. Amazing progress on the second HAED. Your third pattern is also so colorful you will never get bored.

  14. Love the mermaid design....and you got so much done! Love, love, love the new HAED......this has been on my wish list for ages and I have hinted to my hubby about this design and am hoping (fingers crossed) he might be getting it for my Christmas! I can't wait to see your progress on this.

  15. Great start on the Mermaid - that was some serious progress already! How brave of you to take on three HAEDs at once. Your new one is gorgeous as well, I adore this style of painting and I think I have one as a chart too.

  16. Nice to hear from you. What a beauty!!! I love the mermaid HAED. But I have too many started now. I do enjoy those beautiful tiny stitches though. I wish you tons of luck with yours.

  17. I have been addicted to HAEDs ever since I found them, especially the Jasmines. There isn't enough life in me to finish all my Jasmine's, let alone all the other HAEDs I have in my stash, but I'm gonna give it my best shot, although I guess it would help if I stopped buying them and adding to the stash! Great choices on projects and I can't wait to see them finished!

  19. What a sweet design , my grandaughters would want me to stitch one .
If they saw it ha. Hugs.

  20. Dear, you will see that there will be a beautiful embroidery. I admire with delight.

  21. Oh my goodness, Farewell to Anger is a beautiful chart! I can see why you are anxious to start it. I love the colors in the Pearl Swirl Mermaid. I look forward to following your progress on all three!

Did you know that HaED is having a 35% off sale right now until the 27th, ha ha!

  22. You made great progress and it looks fantastic! Now we will have two more to look forward to...what fun. They really look stitch intensive but you are doing such a great job and I love how they turn out. Happy stitching. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever

  23. WOW, what a great start, congratulation to finish the first page. I'm looking forward to the first page of your second HEAD.
    Hugs, Andrea

  24. I absolutely love the colours in this!

  25. Your mermaid is fabulous, I do admire those that stitch HAED's, I tried but it wasn't for me.
Your little cross stitch weekend cottage looks lovely

  26. Your stitching looks great on the Mermaid. Farewell to Anger is beautiful. How can anyone be angry walking through those colors? Have fun!

  27. Congratulations on a page finish! Your mermaid is looking lovely. And, I love Farewell to Anger, so I look forward to living vicariously through your updates. I am so thrilled that you and Justine were able to meet up and stitch together! The Dairy looks quite quaint, too. (Oh to have joined you both!)
